Money received back from the contractor – including performance and availability deductions and any credits resulting from income sharing provisions – cannot be relied on as a regular source of income, but may be used to help boost the affordability of the project. In some cases these receipts, particularly payment mechanism deductions, are passed on to end users and are not therefore available to the client.
