Hello Dorothy Thanks for the picture. Also, I'd like to add that you were the first talking about a patch and I entirely agree. In my view, you are also right about this being somewhat of a path leading to and from the sauna (so Aida's suggestion isn't that far-fetched) and about not being constrained by the source language.

But what about the target language and target audience? First, I've never seen "barefoot floor" as a colloquation anywhere, except for "Barefoot Flooring" in the form of a company name.

Second, I would be very hesitant to draw attention to the fact they want you to walk around barefoot in a hotel room. Many people don't because: hygiene. I do wonder how they clean this patch, since you got no idea what the people before you did in this sauna...

Third, the page may be in English, but it's a hotel website, as you pointed out. In short, you may want to regard this one as the "international" page, so any capitalized Sensations would look odd to me (in Germany, that's used for cat food these days). I find sensory interesting--aren't ENS so fond of experience, e.g. driving experience, user experience...? Or maybe "senses."

It really is more of a patch than a path - although in the sense of a path it does *lead* to and from the sauna... We need to think more outside the box - What is it within the room? Some kind of entrance way? It seems to be part of the balcony as you can see through the slats on the right of the photo... Would the word "sensory" work somehow?

@Björn I don't think you need to get so technical about "flooring". After all, "flooring" (or "floor") is simply what you stand on, and in this case you're standing on a patch of pebbles or pine cones. It's just for a swanky hotel website, not for a high-tech, corporate brochure ;)

Also, I don't see how this really is "flooring." The flooring may be wooden or vinyl, but that's still underneath, not to mention that this can be easily misunderstood:

@ Lesley - path? Agree with pathway. It was my first thought. However, it would be best to try to find something catchy and not too literal. That is why I thought of pathway. It could invite you to go to the last room, for example, where you see more of the forest outside, or what about 'forest path', would this be shorter?
