Ich ordne diese Umsatz womöglich diesem Hotel zu.

Non-PRO Deutsch > Englisch Wirtschaft/Finanzwesen Tourismus und Reisen hotels
Hello,

My name is Raj, and I have never asked anything here yet. I am a beginner translator. With this question, I am starting to ask question here and asking for help of my fellow colleagues. I am translating for a company that deals with hotels. It offers rooms to customers. There is a mail from the customer to the company in which the customer is saying something, however I have not been able to understand this.
please anyone could help me with this. I am also asking a sentence that comes after this sentence in another question.

Thanks in advance.

Raj Sethi (asker) Jun 19, 2017:
Hello,
I am sorry for replying late here since I have had some serious problems with my connection. With response to your questions for providing more context , please understand that these sentences that I have asked here were part of an email, hence it was very short. Besides these 2 questions that I asked here, I have "Ich habe die KreditkatenBuchenInformation bekommen". All the comments were useful here. I am choosing Michael Martin's answer here, but instead of "transaction" for "Umsatz", I have used "debit", so it would be: I have got a credit card booking information, and the debit seems to be related to this hotel (the hotel customer may have booked), but the deposit was not supposed to be made.

Does this make sense to you all?
Ramey Rieger (X) Jun 19, 2017:
Good morning (Germany) Raj! Yes, the German text is missing! Please post the entire paragraph, then we can be sure we are offering you the correct translation suggestions.
Thanks!
Sangeeta Joshi Jun 19, 2017:
Hello Raj, it is always helpful if you provide us with a few more sentences from the source document other than the term or phrase you wish to translate. This helps us to place the term in its particular context. In this case, for instance, it would help us to identify the context in which the term "Umsatz" is used here, though I tend to agree with Michael Martin (transaction) from whatever little context we have here.
Ellen Kraus Jun 18, 2017:
etwas jm. zuordnen wäre to assign sthg to sby. or to ascribe, Attribute (etw. jm. zuschreiben) Umsatz ist, falls kein Tippfehler, the turnover, und es müsste heißen: dieseN Umsatz. Es wäre sinnvoll, wenn der Satz vor od nach diesem von dir beigestellt würde. Tentativ findest du an attempt at providing a reasonable Translation, though there remain a number of uncertainties without additional context

I may be able to match that transaction to this hotel

"...I may be able to match that transaction to this hotel. But then again, this wasn’t supposed to be paid in advance/include an advance payment..."

I am speculating the customer, who wrote those emails, wanted a hotel room and is reviewing charges associated with the booking. Must not be a native speaker. Use of "Umsatz" seems out of place in this context.

Thanks, Sangeeta!
agree Thomas Pfann : Or this item for diesen Umsatz. Und das „womöglich“ im Ausgangstext könnte einfach eine ungeschickte Formulierung für „Ich glaube (dass dieser Umsatz zu diesem Hotel gehört)“ sein.

Possible. "Item" also came up on my list..

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you so much Michael for helping me here. You made me think in a different way. However, I replaced "transaction" with "debit" as I found it to be more accurate. The final sentence was: I have got a credit card booking information. I think this debit relates to this hotel, but How is it possible since I was not supposed to make any deposit while booking - payment only on-site. I really appreciate, Thanks again Raj"

Deutsch term (edited): Ich ordne diese Umsatz womöglich diesem Ho or tel zu.

I could imagine that this turnover lends itself to being associated with this hotel

or that this turnover may be attributed to this hotel. Ich nehme an, es ist der Gäste Umsatz gemeint

Umsatz (English: turnover usually is the amount of business that a company does in a period of time. But it may also refer to a Hotel´s "turnover with guests". poor turnover = few guest, good turnover : many guests. The German is admittedly not the best and in part unintelligible.
Note from asker:
Hello, I got what you were trying to make me understand. I am sorry for not understanding this in the first place since I am a beginner in this profession, and that is why I asked for help in the first place. This was my first question here. Thank you Raj
Hello, Ellen Above, you suggeted this to me: "es ist der Gäste Umsatz gemeint". What do you mean here? Der Gäste (plural) Umsatz - how did you link Umsatz and Gäste gramatically here. I am appreciating your answers. Please help if you can.

neutral Kim Metzger : Sounds very "translated" and the result is absurd.

da das Deutsch wirklich unintelligible ist, kann nichts besseres rauskommen. But distributing disagrees seems to please you.
