Italian term
ULD

Medical (general)
abbreviations -- medical record
This abbreviation appears at the beginning of an abdominal CT scan report, where the patient's basic information is presented. Some of the other information shown includes Data Esame, Paziente, Data Nascita, Codice Sanitario, Nosografico, Stato, then another mystery code UDC, followed by *ULD*.
After both UDC: and ULD: the entry says RADIODIAGNOS ... cut off like this ... but at the heading of the report the name of the department is given as "SERVIZIO DI RADIODIAGNOSTICA" ... so I assume this also stands for "Radiodiagnostica".
Can't find it in any of my usual sources, and scouting around online doesn't bring up anything. I thought that the letter "U" in both abbreviations might stand for Unita' -- but still no success when I include this word in the search.
Any idea what "ULD" stands for and how we say it in English? (I wouldn't object to an opinion on UDC as well.)
Thanks for your help.

UDC: unità diagnostica complessa
Two questions here. I can perhaps help with the second.
"La formazione e la gestione delle immagini in una unità diagnostica complessa"

complex diagnostic unit (CDU)

Comment: "Ciao Arabella. We still don't know what ULD is, but I think you're correct about UDC. Thank you!"

ultra-low-dose
As specified, I'm just guessing. However, a type of existing CT is non-enhanced ultra-low-dose (ULD) abdominal-pelvic multi-detector row computerized tomography (MDCT). Since the acronym is placed at the beginning of the doc, a reference to the use of a particular radiology imaging protocol could make sense. Is there any further indication in the document about the exam the patient received?

Mm, in this case I think my proposal doesn't work. But I won't give up!:)

Hospitalization Logistics Unit
Thanks to the excellent Italian abbreviation resource posted by Dr. Gilberto Lacchia, I found that ULD stands for Unità Logistica di Degenza, which I translated as Hospitalization Logistics Unit.

Nosografico:
Stato:
UDC: RADIODIAGNOS
ULD: RADIODIAGNOS
The procedure is described as "TAC collo - torace - addome completo (con MDC)" Further description says "esame eseguito con tecnica spirale multistrato prima e dopo somministrazione ev di mdc ..." The rest of the report concerns the findings.
UDC = Universal Data Collection or Classification
ULD = Upper Level Discrimination
Just a thought, but if they are followed by figures it might be possible.
